I. BEGINNER COURSES

Introduction to Personal Computers

Designed to give beginning students a basic understanding of personal computers, PC components, computer terminology and working in the Windows environment. Students will get a brief introduction to the MS Office Suite. Prerequisite: None

Introduction to the Internet

This is an overview of the Internet for beginners who have some Windows knowledge. Topics include using browsers to find employment, electronic mail, and the World Wide Web. Prerequisite: Intro to Personal Computers or knowledge of MS Windows basics.

Introduction to Desktop Publishing With MS PowerPoint & MS Publisher

Students in this course will learn the procedures and features to create quality publications for coursework and personal use. Learn to create invitations, brochures, signs, etc. Prerequisite: Intro to Personal Computers or Windows basics.

Introduction to Business Graphics With MS PowerPoint & MS Publisher

Students will learn how to prepare and present business information in graphic, text, charts and pictures. Prerequisite: Intro to Personal Computers or Windows basics.

Keyboarding and Data Entry (All Levels)

This course covers computer keyboarding for the development of basic skills, accuracy, and speed. Prerequisite: None

Computerized Accounting – Intro to MS Excel

This course will emphasize fundamental accounting concepts, practical and computerized accounting procedures for personal and small business use. Prerequisite: Intro to Personal Computers or Windows basics.

Open Lab (All levels)

This is an open lab with instructional support in which students can get assistance doing computer assignments and projects. Students of all levels may enroll for additional computer practice or doing homework. Prerequisite: None

The World of Word Processing – Intro to Microsoft Word

This beginner course introduces students to the world’s most utilized word processing program. Learn to create/open/save files, write letters, format text, work with graphics, create columns, and use tables. Prerequisite: Introduction to Personal Computers or Windows basics.

II. INTERMEDIATE-ADVANCED COURSES

Microsoft Word -- Level 2

An intermediate course designed to build upon students' basic skills in word processing. Topics include using search and replace, headers and footers, page numbers, styles, outlining, templates and wizards. Prerequisite: Intro to Word and Introduction to Personal Computers or Windows basics.

Simulated Projects for the Business Professional

A self-paced course geared to enhance students’ working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite applications. Students will analyze real-world business problems and then apply appropriate MS Office product to design their projects. Prerequisite: Intro to Personal Computing and working knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite.

Building Individual Web Sites

Students will learn how to use Web page formats and functions to create and publish Web pages on the World Wide Web. Basic HTML code and use of WYSISYGs will be covered.Prerequisite: Introduction to Personal Computers and Introduction to the Internet.

Computing for Administrative Assistants

Administrative and clerical professionals will learn tips and strategies to facilitate common tasks. Mail merges, letters, memorandums, headers/footers, tables, and time saving techniques will be covered. Prerequisite: Intro to Personal Computers and MS Word basics.
